As Locust destroy crops in Israel, they also become a Kosher menu item.

The current locust
invasion in Israel has brought new attention to the edibility of this creature,
which also happens to be the only kosher insect.

As crops in Israel, the Palestinian territories, Sudan, Eritrea, Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi
Arabia are being destroyed, locust are becoming a possible substitute for nutrition.  Locust are high in protein, as
well as several other minerals which many people lack in their diets.  They also produce very little in the way of
greenhouse gases.  In some African
nations locust are gathered and sold for food, where they take in more money
than the millet on which they feed.

this topic and also seeing some locust recipes, read this recent article from the BBC.
